Your First Visit

On your first visit to the Align Smile Clinic, we will complete an initial examination and determine a treatment needs outline. We will answer any questions you may have, and ensure you have all the information necessary to make an informed decision.  We will also give you a quotation of costs involved and payment plan options.  We will have time to complete your records at your new patient exam if you wish.

Records

When you decide to proceed with treatment, we will require diagnostic records to determine the detailed course of treatment. Records typically include impressions of the teeth, digital images of the patient's face and teeth, and radiographs. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move.

Braces or Aligner Day!

It is recommended that you have a healthy breakfast or lunch before coming to this appointment.  Most patients find that softer foods are more comfortable at first, so make sure you're well stocked with bananas, yoghurt etc at home.  If you are going to take any over the counter medication prior to your first appointment, please let us know.  Ibuprofen is not recommended as it interferes with our treatment.

Our friendly staff will take you through the process of starting your orthodontics thoroughly and efficiently.   We will discuss your treatment plan with you again to make sure everything is understood. We will then install the appliances (metal and/or clear braces, Invisalign aligners, expanders, etc.), which usually takes about 30 minutes. We will demonstrate proper use, care and cleaning techniques that will be required, and answer any questions you may have.  Please plan to spend an hour with us this day, to allow for adequate instruction time.

Regular Appointments

You'll then see us at regular intervals 4 to 8 weeks apart for an adjustment, each taking 10-25 minutes. Our regular office hours are Tuesday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 4:45 PM, and patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately, and cancel only if it is an emergency.  It may be difficult to reschedule you since most appointments are made 4 to 8 weeks in advance.

Insurance

Simply stated, your dental insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company. We are not part of that contract. However, as a courtesy to you, we will assist and advise you in the processing of your claims. With dental insurance, there are a wide variety of plans which make it impossible for us to know all the details of every patient's coverage.   All account balances not covered by insurance are your responsibility, so please get to know your insurance to prevent surprises.  Remember to let us know if there are any changes in your coverage, as new paperwork may need to be filed so your payments are not disrupted.

Payment & Office Policies

Our fees are based on the total treatment cost from start to finish, and not based on each appointment.   We offer low down payments, and break the balance down into easily manageable, no interest, monthly payments.   Keep in mind that some visits will be more than one hour, while others may be a quick check-up.  In addition, we may sequence the treatment visits at two, four, six or eight week intervals (or in some cases, even longer).  *Please note that the monthly payments will continue even if you do not visit the office for two months or more.*   We have invested heavily in the latest in Orthodontic technology, reducing both your treatment time and the number of visits to the office. We cater to today's busy families and want our care to be more convenient for you!!

  • For your convenience, we accept payment by VISA, MASTERCARD, INTERAC and AMERICAN EXPRESS.
  • If your dental plan does not pay for any reason, all account balances are your responsibility.
  • If you pay up front for all of the treatment we offer an 8% discount.
  • If you move, we will prorate the total treatment fee proportionately.
  • In cases of serious delinquency, treatment will be discontinued, although we will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.

We work hard to make our care affordable, and appreciate our patients' confidence!
